License Requirements to be a Security Guard in Nebraska

The state of Nebraska has no regulations for unarmed security guards. However; there are some requirements on the county and city levels. The best place to get the latest information is the City Clerk in the place the applicant plans on working. Individual companies may also have certain standards that must be met including:

  • applicant must be at least 18 years of age

  • must be a United States citizen or a registered resident alien

  • must have a high school diploma or GED

  • must have NO felony convictions

  • must NOT have committed any crimes involving illegal weapons

Other additional requirements a company may impose include having a valid Nebraska driver’s license, having excellent communication skills, and to be in good physical condition as many positions require standing for long periods of time.

While there is no license required for an armed security guard, there are certain regulations on the county level that must be adhered to and they include:

  • applicant must be at least 21 years of age

  • must be a United States citizen or a registered resident alien

  • must have a valid social security card

  • must pass a background check

  • must pass a drug test

  • must have a valid Nebraska state driver’s license

  • must be good physical condition

  • must NOT have committed any crime involving fraud

Transferring a License to Another State
